There's so much to be learned from great heroes of the past! Your children will learn what allowed these people to leave a living legacy in our history. Kids will learn what kind of moral characters molded successful figures in our society.

Spend some time  with your kids to research biographies, read to them, there are hidden gems in people's stories that help build good moral character and promote good citizenship.
One of the most meaningful times we've spent with our kids  was reading Foxe's Book Of Martyrs; for several nights we read stories of Christian Martyrs to them. Those stories have a profound effect on our children, they have a better appreciation for their religious freedoms.

You don't have to spend money on books. You don't even need to go to the library these days! Utilize the internet, it is a practical tool! You can now read and print online biographies of Christians, famous people and historical figures throughout history. Excellent study resource for homeschoolers!
