The Regulation of Private Schools In America: A State-by-State Analysis - Under the United States Constitution, parents have a fundamental right to direct the education of their children. HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) - Every homeschooler should join HSLDA for your legal protection. Every parent has the right to home school. HSLDA is committed to advocating the two fundamental principles of this liberty: parental rights and religious freedom. Since 1983, HSLDA has represented member families every step of the way—from consultation to correspondence and negotiation with local officials, and in court proceedings all the way through the appellate courts. HSLDA pays all litigation costs for home school cases it undertakes.
